|
National Institute of Engineering (NIE) was started in the year 1946 with admission only to a diploma course in Civil Engineering. In the beginning the classes were conducted in a rustic room with thatched roof in Lakshmipuram. Later, the classes were held in a temporary shed in the Sharadavilas High School Campus. How ever, the untiring efforts of the retired senior engineer trio, Sri S.Ramaswamy, Sri D.V. Narasimha Rao and Sri T. Rama Rao, the NIE founders, gave fruition when the NIE was securely established by 1950 with its own class rooms and workshops on a sprawling 6 acre land in Mysor
